Let me scare you right off the bat...I'm a red-headed German cowgirl, so watch your step, okay? My name is Kristy, and my friend here's called, "Blondie" We're both outdoorsy kind of people, neither one of us cares much for crowds or traffic or busy places. We get together for a nice leisurely ride when we can, and sometimes we get put to work, which can be loads of fun. While my friend hails from Missouri, I am a California cowgirl, born and raised. Yes, we do exist, and no, Texas does NOT have the market cornered on cowgirls. Most of us could give the Texas cowgirls a run for their money. |

I was born in 1967, which makes me "old", at least by internet standards. This of course is in comparison to others using this medium who are of high school age or less, so no offense intended toward anyone "older" than myself! |

![]() | While I don't mind playing dress-up once in awhile, I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a tomboy. I change my own oil, I don't mind being dirty, and most weekends during the summers, if I'm not sittin' astride a horse, then I can probably be found with rubber boots and a shovel irrigating pasture. | ![]() |
| Most people I know would say I am a nice, shy, quiet person who never gets angry and gets along with everybody. Those who know me best, however, know better. | ![]() |
I will speak my mind when asked. Most people know exactly where they stand with me. If someone pisses me off, I tend to get a little fearless, and if pressed, I will get in a person's face. I don't tolerate rude behavior from people. I have never been afraid to stand up for myself, and some of my friends have admitted that they are afraid of me and would feel sorry for anyone who messes with me. I just can't understand why! :) |

In addition to my cowgirl life, I also enjoy the outdoors. Stream fishing in the Stanislaus National Forest is hard to beat for the overall experience. Beautiful scenery, wonderfully fragrant pines, and delicious trout in every stream! If you bait fish here, my recommendation is PAUTSKES GREEN LABEL SALMON EGGS. Don't cheap out and get the generic...believe me, these fish know the difference! For a real treat, and to get away from the bi-monthly planted rainbows, hike a ways into the wilderness and try your luck at the larger and much more aggressive browns. Kristy's bait recommendation: Don't bring any. All you need is a cricket cage, good eyes, and fast hands...grasshoppers are the food of choice with these picky fish, but the extra work really pays off! |
Actually, I spend a good part of the summers in the mountains...fishing, camping, hanging out at the "Last Chance Saloon" with my boyfriend Terry, a tequila sunrise, a great classic country jukebox (nothing after 1965!), and a little "coyote shuffle" dancing for company! |

I usually don't wear my politics on my sleeve. However, in light of the war in Iraq, I am becoming a little more vocal in support of my country and our troops. No, I don't scream at protesters, but I do fly my flag and wear a flag lapel pin with a yellow ribbon. The American Flag appears on my websites. I DO boycott music and films of celebrities who use their fame to try and influence us "peons" with their infinite wisdom. Keep in mind, most of these political geniuses barely graduated high school, and their area of expertise is playing make believe.
| I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!! Terry and I built this 5'6" snowman this past winter along Highway 108 near
Strawberry, CA, in appreciation for MY BROTHER and his regiment stationed in Afghanistan. We kept the blue
star flag hanging in our windows and wore bracelets for the Army. My brother has since returned home safely,
but my heart goes out to those families who lost a loved one in the service of our country.
I come from a long line of patriots. My father served in the Navy aboard submarines during the cold war, putting time in on the "Swordfish", the "Seawolf", and the "Tiru". His father was stationed at Pearl Harbor during WWII serving aboard the heavy cruiser, USS MINNEAPOLIS, and was out with the carriers on December 7, 1941. He was Chief Signalman, and a 4-0 sailor. All I can say for you war protestors out there is "Thank GOD you weren't around during WWII!" Our fighting men and women have enough to worry about taking care of business and staying safe than to have think about what is politically correct. | ![]() |
I like sushi and sake, but am equally happy with pizza and beer. I like merlot and microbrew, but I still drink Koolaide and chocolate milk. I know how to eat with chopsticks...to me, no Asian cuisine tastes nearly as good when eaten with a fork, so I almost never do it. I make my own beer, with 12 batches under my belt. I like my steaks medium-rare, and my preferred seasoning for tri-tip or other beef BBQ is Schilling's Season Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Nothing else. I like Dr. Laura, but I dislike Rush Limbaugh. My idea of a great vacation is backpacking in the mountains and spending a week with nothing more than what I can carry in my pack. I would love to do a road trip across America, but I have never been further east than Glacier National Park in Montana. I have visited Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Hawaii, and someday would love to see Alaska, New York, and Washington D.C.
I can also be a walking contradiction. I am a cowgirl who doesn't care for Budweiser or Coors... and anything Miller makes me gag. I refuse to eat veal, not because I don't like it, but because I think it's cruel. I love oysters on the half shell barbequed in a little garlic butter, but "Rocky-Mountain-Oysters" are definitely out of the question. (If you are unfamiliar with this "delicacy", please refer to my branding page.) I see nothing wrong in raising cattle for beef, and I am pro-guns, but I look at hunting as an unnecessary sport that is basically the enjoyment of killing something for fun. I boycott Walmart and McDonalds, but will shop at Kmart or eat at Burger King. I think the NRA has gone so far too the right, and PETA so far to the left, that neither is or can be taken seriously anymore. That's unfortunate, because I believe that both started out with good ideas and the best intentions. I feel the exact same way about the Republican and Democratic parties.
Maybe all this makes me weird. Perhaps I'm a hypocrite. Or maybe I'm just normal.
